Brigham and Women's Hospital-Harvard Medical School Pulmonary and Critical Care Fellowship Faculty: Sunita Sharma, M.D.
Sunita Sharma, M.D.
Instructor in Medicine, Harvard Medical School

Profile:

Sunita Sharma, MD, MPH is an Associate Physician in the Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine and an Instructor in Medicine at Harvard Medical School.  She spends her clinical time in the Medical Intensive Care Unit at the Brigham and Women's Hospital where she supervises pulmonary fellows, medical residents, and medical students.

Dr. Sharma is also a faculty member of the Respiratory, Environmental, and Genetic Epidemiology group of the Channing Laboratory where her research is in the genomics of complex respiratory diseases. Her research focuses on using integrative genomic approaches to human fetal lung development to identify the genetic determinants of complex respiratory diseases including asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).  Her specific research utilizes gene expression profiling and genome-wide association genotypic data from fetal lung tissue to identify genetic sequence variants that regulate in utero gene expression and subsequently contribute to impaired lung function in patients with asthma and COPD.
